A Fork in the Road

This weekend kicks off my new journey into the Chef’s Training Program at the Natural Gourmet Institute! I have been waiting for this day for years...

Yesterday I submerged myself in a fabulous one day class in Food Photography. It was taught by Alexandra Shytsman of The New Baguette blog. She crammed in so much I expected to walk away overwhelmed, but not so...I walked out so inspired, filled with new tools, and pumped for my new adventure in the culinary world. Between the women I met and the energy of the school community, every cell in my body was lit up.

Life hasn’t felt this right in a while. Especially with the tsunami of tragic events happening in the news every flippin’ day. All of the suffering and negativity has been very hard to navigate. It’s been interesting to witness how it’s affecting everyone differently. This Trump era and Harvey Weinstein $h!tstorm has been triggering a lot of my old wounds. To have a new focus and be surrounded by like-minded people is just what I need to rise above.

When I find myself thinking too much about the future and how I will balance this with my full time job in fashion, the panic swells. Designing Fall ‘18 begins now...deep breath! One hour at a time.

Everyone’s asking what I will do with all of this. I really don’t know yet. I’m going to savor every moment as the mystery unfolds. Who knows what other creative skills are lying dormant.

Here is a drawing of the river before I closed the bungalow up for winter...
